The fourth workshop of the project "Use of Joint Investigation Teams (JIT) to fight Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans at the local level – JIT THB WB" concluded in Skopje


The Project team of the Slovenian Ministry of the Interior and the Police, headed by the National THB Coordinator, organized from 8 to 10 July in Skopje the fourth workshop of JIT THB WB project. The project is co-funded from the European Commission's ISEC programme.

The purpose of the workshop was to present to local-level prosecutors and police officers (criminal investigators) from Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia the concept of Joint Investigation Teams (JIT). Throughout the workshop, their use, modalities for establishment, existing national and international legislation were presented. The role and potential forms of support from Europol and Eurojust in the establishment and implementation were further clarified. The workshop concluded with a practical case study. Lecturers were members of the project team as well as experts on JITs from Europol and Eurojust. Participants acquired basic practical knowledge on the use of JITs for a more efficient fight against trafficking in human beings.
