Montenegro hosted the sixth workshop of JIT THB WB


The project team from the Slovenian Ministry of the Interior and the Police, under the auspices of the Slovenian National Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, organized from 25 to 27 November in Budva, Montenegro the sixth workshop of the project "Use of Joint Investigation Teams (JIT) to fight Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans at the local level – JIT THB WB".

The aim of the workshop was to acquaint the prosecutors and police officers from Montenegro, dealing with THB phenomenon at the local level, with the concept of Joint Investigation Teams (JITs). In this framework experts presented the use and ways of setting-up JITs, as well as existing national and international legislation. The roles and possible forms of support from Europol and Eurojust in the establishment and implementation of JITs were further clarified. Participants also carried out a practical case study. Apart from project team members the workshop contents were delivered by Europol and Eurojust experts in the field of JIT establishment. Participants thus acquired a basic working knowledge on the establishment of JITs for a more effective combating of trafficking in human beings.
