JIT THB WB Workshop 2

JIT THB WB Workshop 2

The project represents the continuation of the preceding project "The introduction of the requirements for establishing Joint Investigation Teams (JIT) to fight Trafficking in Human Beings in the South-eastern Europe" which concluded with a ministerial conference in May 2013 in Slovenia.

Unlike the previous project, JIT TH WB is focused on a more narrowly targeted group of participants. It is aimed at professionals from the regional/local-level police and the prosecutor's offices. The workshop in Croatia was attended by 40 Croatian prosecutors and police officers. Speakers and lecturers at the workshop were internationally recognized experts in the field work of joint investigation teams.

The basic aim of the workshop was to present to the local practitioners in greater detail the concept of joint investigation teams (JIT), an existing national and international legal framework, to identify the key conditions for the establishment of JITs as well as to define the role and the support from Europol and Eurojust. The last part workshop was dedicated to a practical case study in order to acquaint the participants with some practical skills on JIT formation, its role and use in a more effective fight against trafficking in human beings.
